Wine Tasting/Art Exhibition

Guests will enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres and wonderful wines from around the world.  Artist Karen Kristin is showing her latest work entitled, “ Influence of the Masters.”’  Guests will also receive a poster from this year’s 1st annual Mancos Melt. The proceeds will go to  “Mancos On The Move”  to help keep the town of Mancos moving forward.

Fashion Show and Luncheon

The Fashion event of the year. Come see what the casino dudes, and babes take to the runway. The Millwood will be cooking  up a special menu. Cash Bar.
We'll have prizes for the best costumes, Best Dressed, Worst  Dressed, Funniest, Best theme, and Grand Prize
Advanced tickets on sale at the Beehive to ensure seating.
We will be on a schedule for those that are working and need to  get back to work.
Doors open 11:30, Lunch served 12:00, Fashion show 12:30, The show ends at 1:00 pm for those that need to get back to work
Tickets $10 in advance at the Beehive and also at the door of the Millwood Restaurant.  Prizes will include a free massage from Ann Schwarting, CMT at High Desert Health in Cortez, CO, among other great prizes!!

Contestants to perform 9:00 to 10:30; awards following. Be it crooner or country, rocker or rapper, show us your best stuff!  TIP: stop in any Friday at 8:30 p.m. to check out the over 80,000 song selections available, so you can practice.

Join the fun and excitement of the First Annual Mancos Melt Parade.  Dress yourself and your critter in your best Vegas/Casino outfits.  If the kids don’t have a “live” animal, they’re welcome to bring  their decorated stick horses to ride in the parade.  Sign up at Pioneer Park on Mesa at 9:30 a.m.

Snow Show – Winter Scenes Photography Exhibit
 Community Center
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mancos Valley Arts Council is sponsoring a photography contest to be held in the Mancos Community Center.  Bring your 8x10 "Winter Scene" photo to Raven House Gallery one week before the event. There will be a $2 jury fee per photo and entrants are limited to 2 pieces. MVAC will matt your photo for display.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and third. Entrants are encouraged to photograph this years Mancos Melt for entry into next year’s contest.

Roping Contest

Sign up in front of the Mural on Grand Avenue directly following the Critter Parade. 
All participants will start 6 ft. from the Steer Head5 throws per person
No miss roping (one miss and you’re out).  After 5 throws – everyone that is left will move back two feet, take another 5 throws etc.
We’ll keep moving back two ft. at a time until only one person remains
Entry:  $5.00
Prizes:  Jackpot to first place, horse products to 2nd and 3rd

Belmont Balloon Derby

All ages are welcome.  Sign up at Nathaniel’s Hats at 11:00 a.m.  The course will be on Grand Avenue, approximately 40 feet long.  Each participant will blow up their balloon, let it fly, run to where it lands and blow it up again, first one to the finish line wins the pot!

Bed Race

This race is simulated to represent  house keeping.  Handmade beds will be supplied by Rustic Style Furniture and are pushed through an obstacle course by the team. Four - member teams with one member on the bed at all times. Must be at least 18 years old to participate.

Our first annual golf tournament is one not to be missed.  Golf and Costumes make this a guaranteed fun time. Each hole is located in a different downtown establishment, created by some of the hottest Mancos course designers.
Meet at Arborena at 1:30 in costume to receive your score cards and assignments for the shotgun start. Bring your own putter and golf ball.

Pick up you scorecards at 2 p.m. at any participating location for a fun and factual scavenger hunt around Mancos.  Earn bonus points for finding "Mancos Mary" cowgirl pictures displayed at 5 locations!  Return completed scorecards to Artisans of Mancos by 5 p.m. and winner will be posted at Artisans by 5:30.  Great prize for 1st place winner!

 

Bluejays Then and Now

Mancos High School, old gym. Hosted by Mancos Schools.  A Knowledge Bowl-style contest that combines questions about the MHS centennial with questions from current elementary curriculum.
Four-person teams (2 students 6th-12th grade; 2 post-high school adults), three teams at a time, will race to answer questions evenly divided between history and curriculum. A play-off round will determine the champion team.

Teams have three hours to complete the snow sculpture or snowman of their choice.
Prizes awarded in each team category.  One People’s Choice award for their favorite.

Come join us for a good old fashioned game of Kick Ball, just like in high school. We will only be accepting the first four teams to sign up, so pre-register your team with Jamie at 533-1177.  All teams must consist of 7-8 people.  Winning team will get a free round of drinks at the Columbine after the game.
